NoLL's 2026 Openings All Close by Dinner. Cinema Quattro Is Built for After.

NoLL is the 40-acre town center in Liberty Lake's River District, north of I-90. Three local businesses opened there between April and June: a coffee and chocolate shop, a crêperie and the city's first independent bookstore. All three are easy to walk to from the surrounding streets, and all three are closed by 6 p.m. The next opening is Cinema Quattro, a four-screen boutique theater on East Indiana Avenue. Its founder is planning it around the hours the rest of the block is dark.

Three Openings, All Closed by 6 p.m.

Here is what opened in 2026 and when each one locks up.

Business Address Opened Posted hours
Fox & Onyx 1948 N. Harvest Pkwy. Mid-April Mon–Thu 8 a.m.–4 p.m.; Fri–Sun 7 a.m.–4 p.m.
Crêpe Café Sisters 1950 N. Harvest Pkwy. May 21, 2026 Tue–Sun 8 a.m.–3 p.m.; closed Monday
Paragraphs and Pages 21801 E. Indiana Ave., Suite 102 June 2026 Mon–Sat 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Sun 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

Fox & Onyx serves specialty coffee and chocolates. The Inlander included it in a roundup of new coffee spots and reported it has been open since mid-April.

Next door, Crêpe Café Sisters opened its second brick-and-mortar shop on May 21. The business started in 2015 at the Liberty Lake Farmers Market. Its new space sits by the Centennial Trail, directly across from Orchard Park. The Spokane Journal of Business reported that it took over a 1,400-square-foot retail space last used by TT's Brewery & Barbecue.

A family can now get crêpes at 8 a.m. on a Saturday and walk across to Orchard Park. Those same two storefronts are dark before the after-school pickup line clears.

Why the Storefronts Are Small and Close to Home

The early hours follow from how NoLL was planned. Greenstone Corp. founder Jim Frank told the Spokane Journal of Business in October 2025 that NoLL's tenants are family-owned businesses from the area, and that he is not interested in bringing in big national chains. Commercial space is spread through the district in what he calls "cluster developments."

"We feel like we don't want people to have to walk more than, say, half a mile for services," Frank told the Journal.

A town center built from independent, owner-run shops ends up keeping owner-run hours. A coffee shop, a crêperie and a bookstore all fit errands, school-day routines and weekend mornings. The businesses NoLL already had before 2026 back up the same pattern:

  • Tamale Box opened its second location and production facility in NoLL in July 2025. Its order site lists it at 2658 N. Wildrye St.
  • Emrys Beer & Mead Works opened in fall 2024 in a 4,600-square-foot building.
  • New Love Coffee is at 21802 E. Indiana Ave., Suite 102. It opens at 6 a.m. on weekdays and closes at 5 p.m.
  • Versalia Pizza is at 20760 E. Indiana Ave.
  • Liberty Lake Fitness is at 2638 N. Wildrye and offers members 24-hour access.

The brewery-meadery and the pizza place were the evening options before this year. None of the 2026 openings added a reason to stay out after dark.

The Bookstore Stretched the Day to 6 p.m.

Paragraphs and Pages stays open latest of the three. Owners Nathan and Stephanie Hansen opened it as Liberty Lake's first independent bookstore, the Spokesman-Review reported in June. Before the store, Nathan Hansen spent nine years as an information specialist for the Community Library Network in North Idaho.

According to the Spokesman-Review, the store opened with more than 4,500 titles and a bookcase in the back for horror, which Stephanie Hansen asked for. "I feel like whenever I go into indie book stores, there's not a lot of horror books," she told the paper. "So I want to have a lot of horror." The paper also reported two planned recurring book clubs: Fresh Off the Shelf for new fiction and For Real for new nonfiction. The store sells planners and recipe cards from local vendors like TW Designs.

The horror shelf is especially timely in late October. Even so, Monday through Saturday the store closes at 6, and on Sunday it closes at 4.

Cinema Quattro Is Designed for the Hours NoLL Doesn't Cover

Cinema Quattro is going up at 21790 E. Indiana Ave., just west of 3 Ninjas and New Love Coffee. Founder and creative director Jeremy Whittington called it a "night out destination" in the Spokane Journal of Business in March.

Here is what the Journal reported about the plan:

  1. Four auditoriums with 45 luxury reclining seats each.
  2. Three rooms with laser projection and a fourth with a 23-foot LED wall that can be used in different formats.
  3. SnaQ and DrinQ, a concessions program and a bar serving wine, beer, spirits and specialty drinks. Guests can take food and drinks into the theaters.
  4. Live programming, including regular poetry slams hosted by Spokane poet laureate Mery Smith, plus musicians.
  5. A lobby with rotating art exhibits, built around the tagline "Meet me at the Q."

Greenstone is developing the theater, and Chapman Homes of Liberty Lake is the contractor. The Journal reported that city permit information values the project at just under $2 million.

The fourth screen has drawn attention from people who build cinemas. In September, screen supplier Digital Light Sources said Cinema Quattro will be the first movie theater in the U.S. with a sound-transparent LED cinema screen, which lets audio pass through the screen itself. Whittington had given attendees of the Rocky Mountain Theatre Convention a private tour of the building.

In the same post, DLS said the theater plans to open in November. No day has been set. Cinema Quattro's website still says "opening soon," shows no showtimes and has no advance tickets. The films it lists are titles under consideration for the fall slate, not confirmed bookings. The site does have an employment application.

Two More Pieces With Looser Timelines

The cinema has the firmest target of what's still coming. Two other NoLL projects have been announced but have no opening date yet.

BECU said in a March 4, 2026 announcement that it plans a 3,000-square-foot financial center at Indiana Avenue and Harvard Road and expects it to open at the end of 2026.

The Grain Shed, a Spokane bakery, was opening a second location at NoLL according to the Journal's October 2025 report. Its homepage still lists only its Spokane address at 1026 E. Newark Ave.

A bank branch and a bakery would add more daytime errands. That leaves the theater as the only announced project aimed at evenings.

Getting There After Dark, or Before 6

NoLL was planned as a walking destination. Frank told the Journal that about 1,000 homes had been completed in the River District as of October 2025. The Harvard Road Trailhead on the Centennial Trail recently got upgraded restrooms and a repaved, relandscaped parking lot, and more neighborhood paths are planned to link down to the trail. River District Farm is across from Orchard Park at 20291 E. Indiana. It has a 60-tree orchard that community volunteers manage, which gives the walk to Harvest Parkway a landmark. The farm's website currently says its farm store is closed for the season.

For drivers, I-90 has changed since late summer. On August 25, WSDOT turned on ramp meters at the westbound on-ramps at Harvard Road and Liberty Lake Road. They run weekdays from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 1 to 6 p.m., and one vehicle goes per green light. The $800,000 project spaces out cars as they merge, to cut collisions and keep the mainline at highway speed. On weekday afternoons, a drive west toward Spokane Valley or Spokane now begins with a red light on the ramp. For anyone within walking distance of East Indiana Avenue, a night out at Cinema Quattro won't involve the on-ramp at all.

For a broader look at weekday routines on this side of the state line, see our guide to everyday living in Liberty Lake and Spokane Valley. New Love Coffee also has a location in Spokane, covered in our post on Kendall Yards' Wednesday night market.

Our team watches the north side of Liberty Lake take shape week by week, from crêperie mornings to a theater that isn't open yet.
